The University of California, Davis campus, originally known as the University Farm, was established by an act of the State Legislature in 1905. Donald S. Rothchild (1928-2007) received his undergraduate degree from Kenyon College (1949), entered the military for two years during the Korean War, received his masters degree from the University of California, Berkeley (1954), and his doctorate from Johns Hopkins University (1958). He became a Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Davis in 1965.
